Your Job: Principal Backend Engineer Amsterdam
As a Principal Backend Engineer in Amsterdam, you are one of the most experienced techies within the organization, working closely with architects and various development teams. Naturally, you actively participate in one of the teams as a working team lead.
How do you build the various services that can process hundreds of millions of transactions 24/7 and are used by millions of people daily? That’s what you’ll dive into. High-availability, scalability, cryptography, and security—you’ll deal with it all.
Together with your passionate, self-managing teams, you enjoy a lot of freedom, agile working, solid delivery, and test automation. Here you work every day on non-trivial software engineering challenges. Never just running production. That’s why you never have a boring day and keep growing!

What is required?
- At least six years of professional development experience
- Professional experience with Java or Kotlin (and willingness to work with Kotlin)
- Experience with architecture, design, and mentoring
- Experience in technical leadership of at least two software engineers
- A completed technical bachelor’s or master’s degree is a big plus
- Experience with Spring Boot, Ktor, or Kafka is a plus
- Experience building highly secure and/or highly available systems is a plus
- Domain knowledge of FinTech or payment systems is a plus
- Experience or knowledge of mobile development is a plus
What is offered?
- Between €80,000 and €90,720 gross per year, based on knowledge and added value
